I went with one of my old roommates to Africa a while ago, and while we were there, we happened to stumble upon some surprising fun in African cinema, specifically Ghana movies. Before this trip, I had no clue that there were a lot of movies made in Africa, but I was soon educated with some truly great movies that highlight the unique cultures found in Africa. While we spent the bulk of our time out visiting cultural sites, restaurants, and general sightseeing, the thing that I remembered most from our trip was watching a new movie each night when we returned to our hotel room.
When we got back home to the United States, we went back to the usual grind, and soon after our trip she got married, and we sort of lost contact over time. So I was quite stunned when she called me one day and told me that she was coming over and bringing a movie for us to watch. I was happy and surprised, but guessed the movie would be one of the latest releases from Hollywood.
You can imagine how elated I was when she got there and showed me a copy of one of our favorite movies from our trip. We had a complete blast watching this movie again, and I even found that I enjoyed it more watching it the second time around.
When the movie was done, we both remarked on how much we missed watching the Ghana movies like the one we just saw. My friend told me that she had been really missing those movies, so she had jumped online and had found a website where they had all of those terrific movies from Ghana, as well as some Nigerian movies.
I could barely contain my excitement and I instantly grabbed my laptop and looked up the address she told me. And there, I was ecstatic to see the movies that we had watched on our trip, as well as tons more new releases that I couldn't wait to watch! Together, we perused the website, laughing about some of the movies we had seen, and before she left, we had both placed pretty big orders for movies that we couldn't wait to watch together over and over, so that we would always keep those memories of our trip together fresh in our minds.
